The West Hickory Volunteer Fire Department and Smokey Bear recently visited West Forest Elementary School to kick off Fire Safety Week. The volunteer firemen purchased and donated smoke detectors for the family of each elementary student after promoting fire safety and discussing what to do in the event of a fire at a school assembly.
