The 5th and 6th grade students in Mrs. Leann Sharrar’s classroom at West Forest Elementary recently completed a unit on Native Americans, studying the early inhabitants of our continents from the Arctic Circle down to the bottom of South America. The students wrote research reports and built Native American dwellings as part of their American Cultures Social Studies program. In this picture are 4 fifth graders: Summer Ellenberger, Leahanna Nanni, Aspen Ellenberger and Earlon Sibble, each holding the display models they created for the lesson. Some students crafted teepees, longhouses, wigwams and hogans in diorama form as part of the project.
